Quinten Hermans eyes European Championship after victory in Kermiscross Ardooie - "I did feel very good today"

Quinten Hermans started his cross season with victory in the Kermiscross Ardooie. The rider managed to take the lead in the 7th lap and maintained it till the end to secure the victory.

Hermans shared his experience of the race with Sporza. "I did feel very good today. The course also suited me and lent itself to riding alone. It was heavy pushing, and I liked that. That way I can still release my power from the road. Cross-wise it wasn't that super difficult, then I'm still at an advantage."

With confidence in his abilities, Hermans will focus on the European Championship in just two weeks. "My goal is that European Championship. I have been saying for two months that I would like to work toward that," Hermans told Sporza afterwards.

He continues, "The European Championship is in my own country, and I know that with a few crosses, I can get in good shape. Last year was the same. I hope that this year it will work again and that it will be a step higher than last year."

This Sunday, Hermans will compete in the UCI World Cup Tabor in preparation for the European Championship. "Tábor is a little more cross-technical, which leans a little bit towards Namen. You have to pull up a lot more there after the corners, and that's where the guys from America come in again, who dominated there. It will probably be more difficult, but I'm just going to do my best again," concluded Hermans.
