After the late ending to the Qhubeka team last year, and already 39 years of age. Domenico Pozzovivo found himself on the verge of ending his career. 2022, despite being a good year for the Italia, is so far not steering to far from it.
Pozzovivo was signed by Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux already in February of this year, but has performed to the level he has shown for the past decade. Pozzovivo rode to an eighth place at the Giro d'Italia, aswell as finishing ninth at the Tour de Suisse, and has shown great form in the final classics of the year including a third position at the Giro dell'Emilia where he finished behind only Enric Mas and Tadej Pogacar.

Pozzovivo has told Gazzetta dello Sport that he does not rule out renewing with Intermarché, however it will have to be a mutual agreement, and it is known that the Belgian team has limited budget - which has seen them unable to keep the likes of Jan Hirt and Alexander Kristoff, in order to favour rising star Biniam Girmay and the team's long-term future.
