Four months after it's beginning, there is not yet a clear ending to the saga of
Toon Aerts, who tested positive for the substance Letrozole in mid-January. He was not suspended from racing, however, a decision has not yet been made on his return to competition.
Earlier this week team manager Sven Nys had said that "the B-sample has not been completely clarified yet. It takes a lot of time, we don't have clarity about it." However, a positive result has been had, Het Nieuwsblad reported this Thursday.
Nys had however confirmed that "we have done our homework and have delivered it to the UCI," and it is reported that there is currently a file in defense of Aerts, where the possibility of contamination from a food supplement is justified, that is currently delaying the process.
They have concluded that it is likely at this point that the Belgian rider will undergo a "small sentence with retroactive effect or a full sentence of two years for doping use". Baloise - Trek Lions and Aerts are yet to make an official statement, as the case is still unresolved.
