Toon Aerts "awaiting the communication of the UCI" for B-sample results

Baloise - Trek Lions' Toon Aerts is still awaiting the results of the B-sample, over four months after testing positive for the substance Letrozole in an out-of-competition test just before the World championships.

Team manager Sven Nys has recently talked to the media about the case, in which he's given an update on the 28-year old's situation: "Toon is training very hard and keeps himself ready for competition. The B-sample has not been completely clarified yet. It takes a lot of time, we don't have clarity about it. So I can't say much about it," he said.

Being one of the most prolific athletes in the cyclocross field, Aerts' positive test results came as a shock to the cycling world. He was not suspended from racing the final events of the season - including the Fayetteville Worlds however as a precaution the team opted to sideline him until the case is resolved.

"We have created an entire team in support of Toon. We have done our homework and have delivered it to the UCI. We are awaiting the communication of the UCI, what and how they will react, to see what the next step will be," Nys added. Aerts is awaiting for the results before any evolution can be made in the process. Luckily for the Belgian, this takes place during the off-season of the discipline, which will still have several months of low activity before the 2022-2023 season.
