"I felt it was my time to go"- Annemarie Worst reflects on her winning attack at Parkcross Maldegem

Annemarie Worst emerged victorious at Parkcross Maldegem, launching a successful attack during the final lap and establishing a narrow lead that she sustained to earn her fifth win of the season.

This victory comes after a dry spell of more than 4 months without a win and represents the third time she has claimed this cross in her career. “Even if they sometimes change something on the course, I still manage to win here. This victory is good," Worst told HLN.

She provides a recollection of how it all played out. “I had started pretty well and was able to maintain myself at the front. I lost touch with the head of the race for a moment, but halfway through the cross I was able to claim my place in the front again.”

During the final lap, she put forth her greatest effort and created a slight advantage for herself, ultimately resulting in her securing the top spot on the podium. “The winner was clearly in our group and in the penultimate lap I felt it was my time to go.I was able to make a gap right away and start the final lap with a slight lead. Then I had to stop making mistakes and I succeeded,” concluded Worst.
