Fem van Empel and Mathieu van der Poel in Netherland's selection for Gavere World Cup

The Dutch national team has announced the names for the World Cup race in Gavere. Mathieu van der Poel will lead the team.

Mathieu van der Poel could not live up to expectations in Val Di Sole, but it won’t stop him from eyeing his third World Cup victory in Gavere. Lars van der Haar and Pim Ronhaar are also on the list.

In the Women's team, Annemarie Worst and Lucinda Brand are back on the bike. Worst last raced in European Championships, where she dropped out due to back problems. Brand last participated in Superprestige Boom, after which she did not race for two weeks to recover from cold and infection.

As for Fem van Empel, she made it to the list, but her participation is still unconfirmed because of an injury she sustained in Val Di Sole. A final decision is expected this week. “Fem van Empel is taking some extra rest after her fall in Val di Sole, but we are hopeful that she can be there again in Gavere. A final decision will be made later this week,” informed national coach Gerben de Knegt on the Dutch team website.
