Youngest Giro d'Italia peloton since 2000! These are the average age, height and weight of the 2024 Giro d'Italia

Grand Tours are usually a large-scale sample of the professional cycling world. At the 2024 Giro d'Italia, we take a some statistics that emerge from the peloton in terms of their physical attributes.

According to ProCyclingStats, the average weight of the 176 riders that have started the 2024 Giro d'Italia is 68.6Kg. This makes for an average that is not too below actually of the average of the regular male person. Of these, Jonathan Milan is the heaviest rider at the start of the race with 84Kg whilst Matteo Fabbro is the lightest at just 52.

The average height of the peloton is 1.81 meters, again the average for a regular European individual. The tallest rider in the peloton is 1.99 meters tall and the shortest is 1.64 meters.

Outside of that, we've also got the age, where the average was of 27.98. This is the first time since the year 2000 that the average is below the age of 28, and signals the clear trend in the peloton where teams put more and more focus into their young riders. VF Group - Bardiani CSF - Faizanè duo Giulio Pellizzari and Domenico Pozzovivo are the youngest and oldest participants with 20 and 41 years of age respectively.
