Jumbo-Visma sticks to the intended selection of eight for the upcoming Tour de France. Compared to the team that won the yellow jersey with Jonas Vingegaard last year, only Dylan van Baarle is new, taking place of Primoz Roglic. Wilco Kelderman stays the first reserve for whoever drops out. Merijn Zeeman confirms this to Algemeen Dagblad.
"Wilco is going along in the process towards the Tour. If we turn out to need him, he can be there immediately. We have a strong back-up. That gives us peace of mind," says Zeeman about Kelderman.
His place in at Giro d'Italia was filled by Sepp Kuss, who guided Roglic to the overall victory. The Giro-Tour double is on the program for Kuss this year, which does not apply to the Slovenian Giro winner. "I'm going to leave Primoz alone for now," says the sporting manager. "After that we will make new plans."
¨"Before the season we have filled in with pencil that he will also ride the Vuelta. So that is certainly a viable option. Primoz would also really like to ride and win the Il Lombardia. He certainly has those qualities," Zeeman concludes.
