Paris-Roubaix exploded early on as Wout van Aert launched an attack before the Trouée d'Arenberg. After several attacks and crashes the race consolidated, but Mathieu van der Poel is attempting to win his second monument solo as he attacks the race.
In the Auchyh à Bersée sector with 51 kilometers to go the Dutchman has launched a fierce attack in the cobbles trying to go alone off the front. His acceleration was matched by John Degenkolb and then Wout van Aert. The trio seemed superior to the rest but was then caught again by the group.
