On the Valmeinier climb, which decided the seventh stage,
Florian Lipowitz crossed the finish line third to put himself 1 minute and 50 seconds ahead of Remco Evenepoel. The 24-year-old ex-biathlete has the overall podium in his sights, and that is precisely his dream.
"This stage was very difficult from the beginning. I'm happy with the way we rode and the feeling we had as a team. I controlled my effort on the final climb, suffered a lot in the last 5 kilometers, and felt very relieved when I reached the final kilometer," began Lipowitz.
"I hope to have the ideal legs tomorrow to tackle the final stage. To get on the podium of the
Criterium du Dauphiné would be incredible, but it's certainly not going to be easy," concluded the leader of youth competition.
