Tour du Rwanda reveals 2023 teams, Froome and Sagan within possibility of participation

With the World Championships taking place in Rwanda in 2025, the popularity of the Tour du Rwanda - Africa's most popular race - can only rise, and with the rising of riders from the region such as Biniam Girmay and Natnael Tesfatsion, the Tour du Rwanda has revealed strong teams that will be represented in 2023.
20 teams have been selected. Although it does not feature World Tour teams, the startlist includes the Soudal - Quick-Step and EF Education-EasyPost development teams which may use some of their riders from the main team in the race aswell to capture results but also to get some race rhythm.
However, most noticeably, Israel - Premier Tech and TotalEnergies will be at the start, both teams who have automatic wildcards for World Tour events the coming season. Chris Froome has manifested interest in the past over travelling to Rwanda, and could make his return to racing in his continent of birth here. Both teams have star riders that could make their presence felt.
The team list further features the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team which has the influence of Vincenzo Nibali who could have the likes of Matteo Moschetti and Gianluca Brambilla present. Furthermore, six nations will have their own national team including five African counties and Great Britain.
