TotalEnergies have secured the presence of one of it's leaders, as they have announced a contract renewal until 2025. He becomes the team's only rider to have a contract until that year, as the team now looks to build in the long-term.
Moving from Cofidis in 2019, Turgis has became one of the team's leaders and their main card in the cobbled classics. Over the last few years he's had a fourth and an eighth place at the Tour des Flandres, aswell as podiums in Dwars door Vlaanderen and Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne. This year he went on to finish second at Milano-Sanremo with a late move, the highlight of his season which was a much needed result as he's struggled in the months afterwards.
In a press release, Turgis has expressed the satisfaction with the renewal: “I’m delighted to stay with the Team, because I’m happy here. I’ve got a lot of support from management, the staff and my team-mates. So we’re going to keep working steadily, like a family. I want to keep improving with the team, on the classics—Flanders, Milan-San Remo and the Tour de France.”
He just concluded a disappointing Tour de France, where crashes in the opening week largely disrupted his ambitions. Towards the finale of the season he will have opportunities to fight for wins in the many one-day races available, with a lot of motivation for the coming period.
