"Today we went all-in again" - Marianne Vos bounces back from stage 2 disappointment to take powerful La Vuelta Femenina stage 3 victory

For the 252nd time in her career, the legendary Marianne Vos crossed the line with her arms aloft in victory on Tuesday afternoon on stage 3 of La Vuelta Femenina 2024.

“I am of course very happy,” reflected the Team Visma | Lease a Bike star in her post-stage interview, delighted to bounce back well from a disappointing end to stage 2 on Monday. “We were in the lead all day yesterday, but then had bad luck in the final. Today we went all-in again. The girls rode really well. It's nice to end it then. I am very happy with this victory.”

Fighting for victory with Charlotte Kool, Vos proved far too powerful for her rival, winning clearly by a full bike length in the end. For the second stage running though, the peloton was rocked relatively late on by a disruptive crash in the bunch.

“Especially in the beginning with the wet roads. It was very slippery and slippery and we saw many falls. Then you hope that everyone will get through it okay,” Vos recalls. “But I didn't see what happened. We were trying to put ourselves in a good position. They say it's part of the race, falling, but it's never fun to see."
