This might not be the final year in the bunch for Zdenek Stybar after all: "I'm simply not ready to retire just yet"

Zdenek Stybar has recently pointed towards his possible retirement at the end of 2023 season (or more precisely after the 2024 Cyclocross World Championships in Tábor), but there might be at least one more paragraph in Stybar's professional career as reports of his talks with Czech ATT Investments, one of the top continental teams coming from, emerged at the beginning of this week, supported by the team itself retweeting the post on X.

"I was really disappointed to find out Jayco doesn't count with me for 2024. I didn't expect that," Stybar confides in an interview for WeLoveCycling. "I hoped we could agree to do classics and then, if I don't have the level anymore, call it quits after a proper farewell at Roubaix. I'm simply not ready to retire just yet."

Without a WorldTour offer for next season, would a rider like Stybar be interested to continue within a continental team? "Yes, ATT is one of the options. It's been really chaotic last weeks, because a possibility to do a sports director course emerged, so I travelled to Suisse from my races in China."

"I am attracted by any project that makes sense. I am really thinking about the possibility of riding for this Czech team. Passing on to young guys the experience I have gained during my career could bring a meaning to the next season. However, the question is whether I would be able to do something like that during races." According to Stybar, a resolution can be expected before the end of November.
