“This is a very bad day for us" - INEOS Grenadiers left lamenting bad luck after stage 11 sees Tao Geoghegan Hart crash out of the Giro d'Italia

Starting the day with five riders in the top 11, INEOS Grenadiers saw two of their men fall out of GC contention following a crash on a day of bad luck on stage 11 at the Giro d'Italia.
“Normally it would be a long ride but one where there was no danger, although there was the bad weather. But this has turned out to be a very bad day for us," said INEOS Grenadiers's sports director Matteo Tosatto following the stage. "We lost Geoghegan Hart, Sivakov fell hard and Thomas also fell to the ground. That's sport, but I'm disappointed for Geoghegan Hart. He was in top form."
Sadly for Tao Geoghegan Hart, he was forced to leave the Giro d'Italia in an ambulance. Pavel Sivakov came home nearly fourteen minutes down, ruling him out of general classification contention. Thankfully though, Geraint Thomas was able to quickly remount his bike and finished safely in the bunch.
“The Giro is gone in a second. This is not easy," laments Tossato. “He was in a lot of pain. I was not allowed to touch his leg. Now we are waiting for news from the hospital, I hope it goes well. Tomorrow we will continue, but this is difficult for the boys.”

- For a while there, Eli was the best of the rest in cyclocross behind Mathieu and Wout. It must be tough to be forced to retire early due to medical issues, but good health trumps everything else. I wish him the best in his future endeavors.

- I agree that Ayuso was wrong in doing what he did at the tour, but we don't know everything behind the feud unless they all say honestly what went wrong. If he us such a rat and traitor, which it's a bit harsh, then what is to be said about Soler when he was with Movistar and didn't want to ride for Mas? We're gutted to see @taogeoghegan forced to abandon the #Giro following a crash on stage 11. The Brit will head to hospital for checks and we will have further updates in due course.
