The World Championships in Glasgow have had today the under-23 men's time-trial event, and it was Italian Lorenzo Milesi who captured the world title in a surprise result.
Milesi set an early benchmark, with an average speed of 50.5Km/h. He was not the main favourite entering the time-trial, but when that figure - Alec Segaert - crossed the finish line he could only manage second, 11 seconds back. The Team DSM-Firmenich put in an incredible time against the clock which earned him the rainbow stripes, whilst New Zealand's Hamish Mckenzie finished third 50 seconds back.
