With only 60 kilometres remaining, everyone except Samitier and Azparren fell behind and rejoined the main group. The peloton caught the breakaway 40 kilometres before the finish line. Tadej Pogacar attacked solo with 30 kilometres to go and took a lead of 1 minute.
In the next 20 kilometers, Pogacar expanded his lead to over 1 minute and 40 seconds. Just before the the final 8 kilometres, he suffered a puncture, but he was able to quickly get back on his bike and did not lose much time.
Tadej Pogacar maintained his lead and crossed the finish line a minute ahead of others and secured the win, while
Ben Turner took second place and Tim Wellens secured the bronze .
