Slovenia has in the past week been hit by very meaningful floods which have caused extensive damage and have had the European Union financially help the nation in distress. The town where Tadej Pogacar was raised in was damaged as a result of the phenomenon, and he will be hosting a fundraiser for the victims of the tragedy.
"As many of you may have seen on the news the past weeks, Slovenia has been hit by devastating floods in many parts of the country," the UAE Team Emirates rider wrote in an Instagram post. "I'm inviting you all to join me at Congress Square in Ljubljana on 23rd August at 18:00 where I will be signing autographs and taking photos. For every photo and signature we do I will be donating €10 to charity to help aid the flood relief cause."
Reports had estimates of damage at around €500 million making it a very difficult hit to the Slovenian economy, specially taking into consideration that Europe is currently in the depths of summer and such an event was not expected. One of the country's biggest sports figures will headline an event specific to provide support.
"No matter what number we will donate a minimum of €10,000.Looking forward to seeing you all in Ljubljana. Thank you," he concluded. After the Road Race World Championships, in which Pogacar finished third and obtained a bronze medal, he will today race the individual time-trial. He will then take some rest and spend time at home, before most likely preparing towards Il Lombardia.
