“I still feel the road race in my legs" - Tadej Pogacar plays down expectations ahead of individual time-trial at Glasgow World Championships

Tadej Pogacar fought bravely to finish third in the men's elite World Championship road race in Glasgow last Sunday. After the race had finished however, Pogacar had to be helped out of the podium ceremony, completely exhausted. As such, the Slovenian isn't expecting much from himself in the upcoming individual time-trial.

"We'll see what that brings. I still feel the road race in my legs," Pogacar admits ahead of this Friday's battle for the Rainbow Jersey against the clock. "So we're trying to get it running on the time trial bike, we'll see what Friday will bring."

Pogacar had been viewed by some as one of the favourites to take the title. Whether he truly doesn't feel up to the level required or whether he is just trying to play it cool remains to be seen but much like the road race, plenty has been made of the course. After doing some reconnaissance, what are Pogacar's thoughts?

"What do I think of the course? Yes… It's quite long,” he says with a typically cheeky smile. “It is also not very fast because of the slow asphalt. It will be very difficult.”
