Louis Vervaeke has extended his contract with Soudal – Quick-Step through the 2028 season, confirming a long-term commitment to the Belgian WorldTour squad. The 31-year-old, who joined the team in 2022 after racing with Alpecin, has impressed in 2025 despite missing the Tour de France last month due to injury. His season highlight came at the Tour of Oman in February, where he claimed his first professional victory on stage 2 after a breakaway effort, earning a day in the leader’s jersey too. The team announced the contract extension on Saturday, with Vervaeke and team management praising the partnership they have built over the past 4 seasons.
“I’m really proud to continue for three more years in the team, as there wasn’t any doubt when it came to remaining with the Wolfpack,” Vervaeke said. “This contract shows the confidence Soudal Quick-Step has in me and I’m really motivated to show that I can continue being of value to the squad.
“It would be nice to win a race again in the future, now that I got to see how it feels to do it, but at the same time, I want to keep progressing, play my domestique role and help the squad get some really big victories.”
Team CEO Jurgen Fore said the decision to re-sign Vervaeke was straightforward, “Extending the contract of Louis was an easy decision from both sides.”
“Not only that he is excellent in his role, as shown numerous times in the Classics and the Grand Tours of these last four years, but he has improved a lot since joining us – as evidenced by his victory in Oman this season – and we believe he can still do it in the coming years. Louis is a real wolf, somebody who always puts the goals of the group first, and it makes us happy he will continue in our jersey.”
