The opening day of Paris-Nice saw a Primoz Roglic sharp and ready, responding to a dangerous attack from Remco Evenepoel and maintaining his position in the overall classification. It was his first racing day in a BORA - hansgrohe kit, and he looks for it to be a successful stint.
"We will see, we’ll certainly try to do our best. Obviously we don’t know each other that well, we’ve never raced together so a bunch of things will happen and you have to be open to everything," Roglic told CyclingWeekly at the start of Paris-Nice. “The most important thing is that you take the learnings out of it all and carry that into the next races that follow.”
Teaming up with the likes of Aleksandr Vlasov and Danny van Poppel, it is an important week for the Slovenian who gets to race with his new teammates and domestiques at the highest level. A necessary task ahead of a very ambitious season where he looks to win the Tour de France. "Yeah it's beautiful, I like it. So far, so good. Everything's been fine. I’ve just been looking forward to coming here and getting the season started.”
Roglic is a former race winner, in 2022, and as a resident of Monaco - directly next to Nice - he will be quite motivated to slowly ride towards home within four challenging days of racing. "After all the years, you collect a lot of different emotions but you definitely always keep the best ones,” he said. “It's a really great race, and I'm looking forward to going day by day towards home now.”
