Silvia Persico sprints to Brabantse Pijl victory for first road win of the season

Silvia Persico has won the women's edition of Brabantse Pijl 2023. the UAE Team ADQ rider fought off tough competition from the likes of Demi Vollering and Liane Lippert to complete the victory.

With nothing like a traditional breakaway taking place off the front of the peloton, there was a pattern of repeated at attacks by riders that were subsequently pulled back only for another attack to quickly follow at the front of the race.

A crash involving a number of riders with around 50kms to go saw a number of big names such as Fem van Empel go down. Despite a brave battle from the Dutch, Jumbo-Visma rider she was unable to get back into race winning contention.

At the business end of the race it was Silvia Persico of UAE Team ADQ who won a sprint finish from a reduced bunch ahead of Vollering and Liane Lippert.
