Team Visma | Lease a Bike continue their winning ways and may have put themselves in position to win another stage-race. Koen Bouwman has won the third stage of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali and is the new leader of the Italian race.
The hilly day of the race provided a lot of terrain for attacking racing and UAE Team Emirates' Diego Ulissi was not in position to respond to each one.
With 18 kilometers to go Louka Matthys of Bingoal launched an attack that was then bridged across by Bouwman. The Dutchman then won the final sprint between the two who collaborated efficiently, to take over the race lead when taking into consideration the bonus seconds he captured at the finish line. Lotto Dstny's Jenno Berckmoes sprinted to third in the group behind.
