Sepp Kuss runs away from controversies with Roglic and Vingegaard: "They are two amazing guys, I want my chance, but I'm happy to work for them"

Sepp Kuss held on to the red jersey of the Vuelta a España by just 8 seconds over his Jumbo-Visma teammate Jonas Vingegaard. The American was alone with the Dane and Primoz Roglic on the Angliru, but he couldn't hold the Slovenian's pace and ended up finishing a few seconds behind.

Mikel Landa caught him from behind and helped him keep the race lead for another day, although he is getting closer and closer to his teammates. After the stage, he spoke with Alberto Contador for Eurosport describing what it's been like for him to wear the red jersey.

"It's a position I never expected to have, I came to the Vuelta without any expectations, I was just looking to help the guys, as always, but then I got this nice jersey and all the experiences that are coming with it, I've discovered a new level of confidence and racing instinct and that's a very nice thing.

Speaking of the rivalry with Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard, his only two rivals for the red jersey in Madrid, Kuss tried to put aside any possible controversy: "Also with two incredible guys, behind the scenes we work very well together, they are two great champions and I also want my chance, I'm also happy to work when they when it's their turn."
