Withh 77 kilometers to go at the Volta ao Algarve, the third stage saw a crash that heavily affected EF Education-EasyPost. Rui Costa has abandoned the race seemingly injured.
The crash took place in what seemed to be a calm moment in the peloton. A sudden crash saw two members of the American team hit the deck. Rui Costa abandoned the race with a possible broken collarbone, whilst Marijn van den Berg - a favourite for the stage win - lost contact with the peloton after spending several minutes on the ground.
