Richard Carapaz' upcoming races as he builds towards Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana

Richard Carapaz has taken the start of the season with his new team EF Education-EasyPost in his stride. The Ecuadorian cyclist won his country's nationals in his first race of the year, but was slow to land in Europe.

He raced the Itzulia, but abandoned on the penultimate stage after an allergy. He tried several times to take a strong result, but did not have the legs in his first WorldTour race of the year.

The 'Locomotive of Carchi' has the Tour de France as his main objective this year and these are the main races he will compete in the coming months:

- Amstel Gold Race (16 April)

- Liège-Bastogne-Liège (23 April)

-Criterium du Dauphiné (4 to 11 June)

- Tour de France (1 to 23 July)

- Vuelta a España (26 August to 17 September)
