Like at the Giro, Wout is not in the best shape yet, but should improve as the race progresses and will be in a position to win stages later and be a good satellite rider for Jonas.07-07-2025 09:52

I'm reminded of Eric Liddell's memorable quote in 'Chariots of Fire', to his sister (who doesn't approve of his runnning) why he wants to take part in the Olympics: "I believe God made me for a purpose, but He also made me fast," and "When I run, I feel His pleasure."07-07-2025 09:03

That was probably the first and last time that Pog has been caught out behind a crosswind split. He has learnt his lesson from that and has always been able to position himself in the front, with or without his team since then.06-07-2025 09:31

UAE should include Del Toro as a domestique for Pogacar at the Tour. After all, Simon Yates is also riding the Tour in support of Vingegaard.02-06-2025 10:56

To some extent, I can understand Del Toro remaining on Carapaz's wheel almost throughout the ascent of Finestre. But there is no excuse for him not putting in the utmost effort after the summit, when Yates had a lead of just around 20 seconds on him, which was still bridgeable though difficult.31-05-2025 20:22

Its difficult to compare the two, since both are fundamentally different as cyclists. Jonas is essentially a stage racer, whereas Mads excels in classics as well as in sprint stages at GTs. At this point of time, Jonas with his two Tour wins, beating Pogacar no less, has the better credentials. If Mads wins a few monuments and some Points Jerseys, the comparison may be closer.13-05-2025 15:59

Hinault was even lighter than Pog at 62 kg when he won PR in 1981, beating Roger van Vlaeminck no less (albeit at the fag end of the latter's career), so it can be done.03-04-2025 18:29

Whatever the result, I believe the strategy by UAE to launch Pogacar was absolutely the right one. Unfortunately, they just were not able to execute it the way they must have planned, being all over the place at the start of the Cipressa.23-03-2025 10:16

They are without doubt not just the best two classics riders of this generation, but amongst the best of all time. MvdP is more suited to MSR and PR (which Pog has yet to race), while Pog is now almost untouchable at LBL and Lombardia. RVV is the only one where both basically have an equal chance to win.23-03-2025 10:05

Good win for Ayuso. He has appeared a bit inconsistent on mountain stages in the past; absolutely brilliant on some but then cracking on others.16-03-2025 04:31
