After yesterday's raid, Richard Carapaz is sitting second in the general classification of the Volta a Catalunya but he is eyeing an improvement in today's stage to Barcelona, as he has told reported at the start of the stage.
He was keen on adding that yesterday's achievement was quite impressive, and worked due to good collaboration with current race leader Sergio Higuita, with who he will be battling today on the slopes of the Montjuic: "At the end we tried and we didn't know if we'd arrive because the final was in 130 kilometers and we had to work, but we proved it and the truth is I had a good companion in the front and that allowed us to arrive at the finale [in front]."
As for today's stage of the race, the final day, he is sure attacks will be coming: "I think today will be a very attacked day. There are man riders who are close to the podium and it will be very attacked."
Down to only three riders, INEOS Grenadiers don't have many possibilities of going on the attack, however Carlos Rodríguez should be able to support the Ecuadorian, and the rest is to be seen out on the road. "Yesterday was a hard day, we'll try to do the best we can of course, of course try," he concluded.
