First it was Wout van Aert, and now the greatest female
cyclist of all time,
Team Visma | Lease a Bike have announced that
Marianne Vos
has signed a lifetime contract with the team.
Vos has been a key part of the women’s squad since its
formation in 2021, joining as one of its founding leaders. Since then, she has
continued to add to her legendary palmarès with victories across the biggest
races in the sport.
She has claimed stage wins at the Giro Donne, La Vuelta, and
Tour de France Femmes, where she also secured the green jersey in 2024. Her
résumé also includes a victory at the Amstel Gold Race, multiple world titles
in road, cyclocross and gravel, and an Olympic silver medal at the Paris Games.
In 2024, Vos celebrated a landmark moment by taking her 250th professional win.
In the team’s official press release, Vos spoke about what
the new deal means to her, “Team Visma | Lease a Bike feels like home to me – a
place where I can be myself and where I can work every day with pleasure and
motivation.
“I am grateful for the trust and support I receive here.
Always pushing myself to the limit is still what I love to do the most. And in
the coming years, I will do this with great joy in yellow and black. That’s why
I’m happy that we are continuing together with a commitment that has no end
date.”
Team CEO Richard Plugge also praised Vos’s influence both on
and off the bike, “Marianne is not only an exceptional champion, but also a
role model for the entire team. Her drive to improve every day and her desire
to continue developing herself perfectly align with who we are as a team. I am
incredibly happy that she will remain part of the team until the end of her
active career and continue building our story.”
