Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team are not having their best classics season so far, and today at Gent-Wevelgem they will try to strike as they bring in a strong team with several contenders for the Belgian classic.
After the six weens that he's obtained in the early season, Fabio Jakobsen will be coming in as the most protected rider within the Quick-Step structure. The Dutch sprinter is not known for his climbing prowess, however with a good day, strong team support and some aliances, he may find himself in a winning position as he has at Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne. Davide Ballerini comes in as a secondary sprinter, although not quite having reached his best form this sprint.
Kasper Asgreen, Florian Sénéchal and Yves Lampaert come in to provide the team with depth. From responding to attacks, deorganizing attacking groups or chases, or working towards Jakobsen, there are many viable options for the Belgian team that come along it. All three riders have quality in case they find themselves in a sprint. Bert van Lerberghe and Iljo Keisse complete the lineup, confirming that the team is having a sprint in mind.
