Whilst on a training camp this past December with the
Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team, French national champion
Rémi Cavagna suffered a crash which left him with a broken vertebrae.
Luckily, the time-trialist dodged any neurological damage and managed to resume training after some weeks of rest. Naturally this has delayed his start to the season, but Cavagna is thankful to be back on the bike and with the team. As he mentioned, "It was a bad crash and I'm lucky that now I don't think about this anymore."
"Maybe I'm not 100%, but I will reach the top level, I hope soon," he added. Cavagna will start his 2022 season in Milano-Torino where the team will be working towards the ambitions of Mark Cavendish after a poor performance at Tirreno-Adriatico.
Plans for the season will come as the months go by, however Cavagna is expected to be at the Tour de France if all goes well.
