Sven Vanthourenhout is Belgium's national team coach on the road and gravel at least where he has a very strong presence and has guided the team's to many World Championships and Olympic medals. After four years managing many egos and stars, he is set to make the step into World Tour where a top team is eager to have him on board.
Recently he has told Wielerflits that "I have had very fair discussions with three teams and because it concerns a management position, these were serious job interviews. We are now in the phase in which a correct proposal has to be made to me. I will then weigh these proposals against each other and thus determine which path I will take.” It is determined that Soudal - Quick-Step was one, a second team was not made public, and the third and most likely destination for Vanthourenhout is Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe.
It is expected that this signing will be announced in the coming weeks as the German team prepares for the 2025 season. With extra budget the team has signed many riders, but is also making the effort to build a strong and experienced staff team to prepare and lead them throughout the calendar.
