Primoz Roglic has abandoned the
Giro d'Italia. The
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe rider has suffered several crashes throughout the Corsa Rosa and his start on stage 16 was already a question. After coming down once again during the stage, the Slovenian has officially left the race.
It is something that looked inevitable after Roglic admitted he struggled to get on the bike during the rest day, and on stage 15 he lost serious time to his GC rivals in the arrival to Asiago. Roglic crashed on stage 9 in a sterrato sector and this not only caused him to lose important time on the day but also suffer consequences for the entire second week.
Within the German team's camp it was kept relatively hidden, but upon returning to the high mountains on stage 15, there was no hiding the lack of power on the big climbs and decisive moments. Today Roglic crashed alongside Richard Carapaz, although there was no footage of the crash, Roglic's race ended there. Carapaz was able to return to the peloton in the meantime.
because he's in pain (sore) from those crashes.
