In his statements after the race,
Pelayo Sánchez began by thanking his new team for their confidence and dedicating the victory to them. Afterwards, he explained that
Movistar Team's entire plan was modified by the aforementioned crash of Aranburu: "A very nice victory. I would like to dedicate the victory to the whole team. I'm very happy. It's true that I came from the first three days of competition (of the Challenge Mallorca, ed.), which usually costs me, not with the best legs, but well, I was helping my teammates".
"Unfortunately today Alex [Aranburu], who was our trump card, had a mishap that I hope he's okay, and from there we had to rethink the race with those of us who were there and play our card. It was a very crazy race solution. Everyone was proposing something. I knew I had to stay calm, that I could do well at the end. That's what I did and I was able to raise my arms," concluded the 23-year-old Spaniard.
