Soudal - Quick-Step's 19-year old neo-pro Paul Magnier has taken no time to prove himself within the pros. The Frenchman won a tricky bunch sprint to take his first win on his first day with the Belgian team.
Riccardo Lucca, Victor Vercuillie, Edgar Curto and Ethan Craine formed the day's breakaway on the day where the Challenge Mallorca saw it's flattest day. It was no threat however to the fast peloton who had several teams in pursuit throughout the day.
In the final few dozen kilometers the survivors were brought back to the peloton and the fight for the leadout began. It was a furious one, as riders knew the final corner would be crucial. Soudal - Quick-Step had the lead when the peloton arrived at that spot and took full advantage.
Paul Magnier entered the finishing straight in front and sprinted to a surprising win. It was a shocker for the Belgian team, who finished with Luke Lamperti in third place as well, whilst Tudor's Alberto Dainese finished second on the day.
