Organisers promise one of the hardest Volta a Catalunya editions in a long time with three hard summit finishes

We still have to wait a while for the full route, but the organization of the Volta a Catalunya has already shared important information about the route of the next edition of the multi-day cycling tour. In the 103rd edition, the peloton visits the ski areas Vallter 2000 and Port Ainé.

At an earlier stage, the organization of the Catalan stage race announced that next year the riders will be presented with a mountain stage to the sanctuary of Queralt. In this stage the participants will finish on the slopes of a more than ten kilometer long climb at a gradient of more than 6%. But it doesn't stop there for the climbers, because there are also two other mountain stages on the program to Vallter 2000 and Port Ainé respectively.

For riders, who race in Catalunya regularly, arrival on top of these two climbs won't be a brand new experience were part of the route in 2021, with Vallter 2000 making yet another appearance in 2023. This year's winner of the stage was Italian Giulio Ciccone, who won in a sprint of four.

We'll still have to wait for the complete route for a few weeks, the organization announced in a press release. The 2024 Volta a Catalunya will take place from March 18 to 24 next year. This year the overall victory went to the Slovenian Primož Roglič, after an exciting battle with the Belgian Remco Evenepoel.
