One-two for UAE Team Emirates as Alessandro Covi conquers Volta Ciclista a Murcia

UAE Team Emirates dominated the Volta Ciclista a Murcia with a masterclass in strenght and tactical riding, putting all rival teams under pressure and in the end taking a one-two win with Alessandro Covi and Matteo Trentin raising their arms.

UAE Team Emirates did the perfect race, using numbers to capitalize and take the win in Murcia. With Brandon McNulty part of an early move alongside the likes of Nils Politt, Warren Barguil and Kobe Goossens, the UAE team never had the responsability to chase.

Despite the attacks of Miguel Ángel López in the last climbs of the day, a small peloton managed to put on the chase needed to chase back McNulty over the top as the gaps remained small, and López himself suffered from cramps whilst trying to chase down the American.

An alliance was made between Arkéa and BORA to bring McNulty back which was successfully made but UAE didn't loose the head of the race as Alessandro Covi attacked immediately and went on to the race win.

He didn't manage to build a big gap, and was almost caught in sight of the finish line, but the Italian puncheur net what is the first win of his career, with teammate Matteo Trentin winning the peloton sprint behind, Arkéa's Matis Louvel finished on the third spot.
