It has been nothing but a successful season for Baloise - Trek Lions' Lars van der Haar but before finishing it off tomorrow in Brussels, he has tasted glory once again.
The conditions weren't too bad, but the track in Gavere was very technical and made for a very hard race with attacks coming from the start, with Toon Vandebosch and Toon Aerts trying out the legs early on.
As soon as the race settled, van der Haar came from behind and attacked the race, dropping Toon Aerts in the process and also putting Eli Iserbyt under pressure, who crashed hard on the second lap but managed to remount and get his position back. On the 4th lap though the European champion attacked on the main climb and upon getting a gap on Iserbyt, he managed to sustain and enlargen it until the end.
Van der Haar got to the finish with 1:08 lead over Iserbyt who assured his win in the Telenet Superprestige cup which was surely the main goal of the day, and beating his rival Toon Aerts for runner-up spot.
