Young Dutch talent Olav Kooij has been climbing up the ranks this year, and after getting his first win of the season earlier this week at the second day of the race, he has won too the final rainy stage of the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe after an aggressive performance on a rainy day.
He beat Xandro Meurisse in a two-up sprint. The duo benefited from an unfortunate crash in the chasing group that saw race leader Mads Pedersen abandon in the final kilometers. Elia Viviani finished third, and with Pedersen out it meant Kooij took over the lead of the race, taking the first overall title of his career.
