"Nothing happened, it was a tsunami in a thimble" - Cyrille Guimard plays down Cian Uijtdebroeks transfer drama

Cian Uijtdebroeks' controversial transfer from BORA - hansgrohe to Team Visma | Lease a Bike was one of the stories of the road cycling off-season. Despite the uproar about how the move played out, French cycling expert Cyrille Guimard doesn't believe there was any real drama.

"Nothing happened, it was a tsunami in a thimble," Guimard analyses of the transfer saga in his column for Cyclism'Actu. "This kind of thing always happens one day or another, it's the story of life."

After Team Visma | Lease a Bike had announced the signing, BORA - hansgrohe responded vis an official denial of any such deal on their social media. "For a moment there are incompatibilities, rivalries... It's not something recurring, it's always happened at occasional moments," Guimard says, playing down talk of a lasting strain on the relationship between the two teams.
