Remco Evenepoel is one of the rider who is less afraid to let people know his opinion. Hence, he used Instagram as means to personally reject the rumours of contact with
BORA - hansgrohe.
"Remco is an interesting rider. It is always better to have him by your side than to have him opposite you," Ralph Denk, manager of BORA - hansgrohe, said in a recent
interview with Sporza. "But I can confirm that there is certainly no deal with Remco. Rumours are part of the game."
However, this was enough to connect a few dots, as Denk did not refute interest in the Belgian champion.
Wielerkrant took this possibility and speculated on the chance that Evenepoel was to team up with Primoz Roglic in the future. However Evenepoel himself put out an Instagram story with a screenshot of this title with the caption "No. Stop it."
Effectively, this ends the minor rumour that could exist. BORA, backed up by Red Bull, has signed Primoz Roglic whilst keeping it's stars onboard for 2024, and is legitimately on a path to be a very dangerous rival for both UAE Team Emirates and Team Visma | Lease a Bike at the Tour de France. Primoz Roglic will be supported by the likes of Jai Hindley, Aleksandr Vlasov and likely second placed at the Giro d'Italia Daniel Martínez.
But Evenepoel, who also races with Specialized currently, can be scraped off the list. But it cannot be said that the German team will leave the 2024 transfer period without a big signing just yet, as they clearly have a budget boost - as did Lidl-Trek last year with the entrance of the supermarket giant.
Both Tom Pidcock and Wout van Aert, riders with close ties with Red Bull, are being speculated as possible priorities - although in the Briton's case, it would require the contract to be ended with immediate effect as he is signed with INEOS Grenadiers until 2027.
