Nairo Quintana and Chris Froome headlined a rivalry that has now in the past as a new generation emerges, however in 2023 the two could be racing together as a recent report suggests the Colombian may have signed for Israel - Premier Tech.
Journalist Nieves Moya has reported in a Tweet: "They tell me from reliable sources, but as a precaution I put it in quarantine, that only waiting for the team and the rider to confirm it, the cyclist Nairo Quintana, is very close to the Israel – Premier Tech team." Such news would see the Colombian teaming up with the likes of Chris Froome, Michael Woods and Jakob Fuglsang in the 2023 season.
After having his contract ended by Arkéa Samsic due to a tramadol positive test during the Tour de France, Quintana found himself in a difficult position into the off-season. He's stated that he has found a team, and it's the team's responsibility to announce the transfer, and that he would be targeting the Grand Tours.
Although Israel - Premier Tech have lost their position in the World Tour and do not have automatic wildcards for the three-week races, the presence of Quintana and multiple other top-level riders could see the move work, if true.
