"My legs were cramping up but I just wanted it so bad" - Pfeiffer Georgi delivers sprint of her life to take podium at Paris-Roubaix Femmes 2024

After a brutal battle, the British National Champion, Pfeiffer Georgi gave the sprint of her life on the historic velodrome finale for Paris-Roubaix Femmes 2024, securing a spot on the podium.

"It was so hard and it was so close on the line," reflects the Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL rider in her post-race interview. "My legs were cramping up but I just wanted it so bad. We had a little crash so I got dropped from the front and then it was just a fight to get back."

Having completed a massive effort to get back to the head of the race, Georgi entered the velodrome alongside some of the biggest names in women's cycling such as eventual winner, Lotte Kopecky, runner-up Elisa Balsamo and the woman Georgi edged out for the third spot on the podium, the legendary Marianne Vos.

"I can't believe it. This is a dream race of mine and I know it's not the win but it means a lot," the Brit assesses. "It was all about positioning today and the girls made sure I was at the front for every sector and stayed out of trouble. In the end, it was a bit difficult because there wasn't a perfect moment to attack so I just focused everything on the sprint and yeah..."
