Movistar to take exceptionally strong team to Gran Camiño as Alejandro Valverde returns to competition

Movistar Team have confirmed their lineup for the new race in Spain which is set to take place from the 24th to 27th of February in Galicia. Despite being new on the calendar, Gran Camiño is already set to take in a strong list of teams and riders which will be battling throughout four days of intense racing.

The race is set ot have an opening stage for the sprinters in which the likes of Magnus Cort Nielsen, Giovanni Lonardi and Filippo Fiorelli will be targeting, but it's the hilly terrain that will set the tone of the race. The second day follows a rather flat stage but a summit finish on the iconic Mirador de Ézaro, whilst the third and queen stage features a very hard finale with multiple steep ascents, where the finale is then placed in Luintra. The likes of Alejandro Valverde, Iván Sosa and Antonio Pedrero will be between the big favourites for the overall classification, as the Spanish veteran returns to competition after having to isolate due to a Covid outbreak in the team.

The race will host a variety of World Tour, Pro Team and Continental teams from many different countries, the likes of Cofidis' Benjamin Thomas and Jesús Herrada are outlined to be at the start, as are EF's Alberto Bettiol and new signing Mark Padun who will iniciate his season in Spain. The final day sees a 16 kilometer hilly time-trial in Sarria which will wrap off the GC.
