Cofidis' Clement Izquierdo has given the French team some much-needed success and has won the final stage of the 2025 Tour de Wallonie from the breakaway in a thrilling finale. In terms of the GC meanwhile, Israel - Premier Tech's Corbin Strong bags the overall win.
A big breakaway of 12 riders were off the front heading into the final 50km of the day. Among the most notable names on the attack were the likes of: Matevz Govekar (Bahrain - Victorious), Remy Rochas (Groupama-FDJ), Connor Swift (INEOS Grenadiers), Filip Maciejuk (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe), David Haverdings (Baloise Glowi Lions) and best placed on GC at just 2:46 down at the start of the day, Lorenzo Milesi (Movistar Team).
As the break took the bell for the final lap, they still had over a minute of advantage over the peloton with just over 20km left. With 7.5km to go, and still nearly a minute separating the break and bunch, Remy Rochas attempted to go solo, but couldn't properly snap the elastic to all his companions.
In a thrilling finale, the breakaway and the sprint then came to the finale at almost the exact moment. In the end though, it was Cofidis' Clement Izquierdo who held onto the win ahead of a fast finishing Corbin Strong, who himself secured the overall GC win.
