Montréal confirmed to be venue for 2026 World Championships

Today the organizers of the World Championships have been announcing a lot of coming venues for the World Championships in several different disciplines, and the Road World Championships of 2026 will be taking place in Montréal, Canada.

The announcement was made almost simultaneous to that of the 2027 'Super' edition, which will take place in the Alpine region of Haute-Savoie in France. The "rest day" at the Worlds has seen the riders out on the Wollongong circuit, whilst organizers and media have been reporting on the riders' thoughts and the future of the sport.

The Canadian city has already hosted the event in 1974 where Eddy Merckx took the title, and the race is possibly set to have a similar route to that of the recent GP de Montréal, which has taken a consistent spot at World Tour level in anticipation for the World Championships themselves.
