Michael Matthews and Rohan Dennis will lead Australia in Glasgow

More and more national coaches have their homework ready for the upcoming cycling world championships in Glasgow, Scotland. The Australians are mainly counting on Michael Matthews in the road race. In the time trial, Rohan Dennis will give his farewell to rainbow race.

The team has some of the big names of recent World Champonship history with three-time (2015, 2017 and 2022) road race medallist Matthews or two-time (2018 and 2019) ITT champion Rohan Dennis.

Matthews has spent the past few weeks at altitude to prepare himself as best as possible for the upcoming world championships in Glasgow. The course is perfect for Matthews, but he is certainly not the only fast rider in the Australian selection. Kaden Groves and Caleb Ewan hope for a success in case of a sprint of bigger group.

In the time trial it is up to Rohan Dennis and Jay Vine to defend the Australian honor as best as possible. For Dennis it is the last time that he will take action at a World Championship: the 33-year old rider will end his career at the end of the season. Dennis already became world champion against the clock in 2018 and 2019.
