Stage 13 of the Tour de France saw a very fast race from the riders as the hilly route provided an opportunity for the breakaway to succeed. However, a sprinter nevertheless crossed the line first as Mads Pedersen rode a tremendous stage to capture his first win in the race.
The day's medical report included only one rider, who crashed during the stage with big consequences to the aftermath:
(161) Caleb Ewan - Left knee trauma.
