Egan Bernal has returned to feeling like a real Grand Tour contendert or the first time since his 2022 crsh in this Giro d'Italia 2025. The consequences of that crash have kept him struggling without being able to feel like one of the best in the peloton until now.
Egan Bernal entered the finish line yesterday in Sestrière in 24th position, losing his sixth place in the overall classification to Giulio Pellizzari. The most important thing has been, as long as the crashes have allowed him to compete with the best.
"It was a beautiful and special Giro for me. It was quite hard, but I had a great time, both for the race and for the pleasure of riding," the INEOS Grenadiers rider said in a post-race interview following the final mountain stage.
He sparked up the race on several days as he and INEOS attempted to explode the race and create race situations that would favour them. "Even when I felt empty today, I thought I wanted to remember every pedal stroke. Regardless of my final position in the standings, being able to fight for the overall felt like a dream."

What a delusional bloke! Talking about fighting for the overall while being 13 minutes down the GC. It’s evident that his crash into the parked bus damaged not only his performance but brains as well. With Jonas as the best GT rider and other top GT GC riders absent.. it would have been more than 20minutes.
