Marlen Reusser secures victory at Gent-Wevelgem WE with impressive solo effort

Team SD Worx's Marlen Reusser claimed the victory at Gent-Wevelgem WE. By attacking with 41 kilometres left, she created a gap of over 2 minutes, which allowed her to cross the finish line alone. Megan Jastrab came in second, with Karlijn Swinkels completing the podium.

The beginning was quiet, despite a few attacks that were brief. The rain resulted in a more treacherous track, leading to more crashes today. Marlen Reusser made a move with only 41 kilometres left.

Within the next 30 kilometers, she established a lead of over 2 minutes. A group of six riders consisting of Pfeiffer Georgi, Shirin van Anrooij, Shari Bossuyt, Anna Henderson, Eugenia Bujak, and Christine Majerus were in pursuit.

The chasing group struggled to make up the substantial gap that Reusser had established, and although she briefly made a mistake by taking a wrong turn, she quickly corrected herself and got back on course. She went on to cross the finish line solo to secure her first victory of the season, with Megan Jastrab coming in second and Karlijn Swinkels rounding out the podium.
